GOLF DESCRIPTION
The 18-hole natural, flat golf course of Bois de Ruminghem was built by English golf architect Bill Baker between the forest of Eperlecques and the woods of Ruminghem. The Eperlecques forest is best known for the V2 bunker built during the Second World War, which was bombed by Allied forces.
Terrain varies between plain and forest. A highly technical course offering a challenge to very good players as well as beginners. The Bois de Ruminghem golf course consists of two completely different sections. Holes 1 to 10 offer spectacular views of the coast between Calais and Dunkirk on a flat course. Holes 11 to 18 are wooded and offer the chance to play amongst a multitude of old oak trees. Your bad shots are punished by the trees, while the fairways adjoining the course are more forgiving. This requires a different approach to teeing off on the flat fairways and the fairways in the woods. The undulating American-style greens are difficult to read, and the English-style bunkers make Ruminghem a challenging but very interesting course. If you can play your handicap on this course, then you can play your handicap anywhere.
